Problems facing the Diocese

(page 2)

Health

The Diocese is concerned about the physical health of the population.  Studies done in the Diocese indicate that 70 percent of the diseases affecting the population are preventable.  The main health problems include HIV/AIDS that has devastated the population, leaving behind many widows and orphans.  Malaria is also a serious problem.  The health problems are compounded by limited health facilities and poverty among households in the Diocese.

Information

The Church has not yet been brought into the information age.  Generally, there is lack of information due to poor methods of information gathering and management in parishes, poor information flow from parishes to the Diocese, and so forth.  The Diocese does not have a statistical data base yet.
